Reading help that doesn’t talk down to your teenager, or your adult.

NextChapter is built for families of older readers with dyslexia, often alongside autism, ADHD, or ODD, from tweens who are behind grade level to young adults who never learned to read at all and are ready to now. Built with kids who struggle in a traditional classroom in mind, including those public and private school haven’t worked for. Structured literacy practice that starts wherever they actually are and respects their age, plus a plain English guide through IEP and other advocacy. No cartoon farm animals.

Most reading apps were built for six year olds. Yours isn’t.

What’s already out there

  • Cartoon mascots and farm animals, for a teenager or an adult
  • Reading passages about puppies and birthday parties
  • One app for phonics, another for advocacy, nothing connects
  • Systems that move slowly, with few specialists for older readers

What NextChapter does instead

  • Orton-Gillingham based literacy practice, built for older readers
  • Reading and writing practice built around any subject they love, not just a fixed list
  • Literacy practice and advocacy in one place
  • A plain English path through Child Find and the IEP process

Two tracks. Use one or both.

Literacy track

Structured reading practice, starting wherever they are

Orton-Gillingham based phonics and decoding, starting from the very first letter sounds if that’s where they are. It’s all reading and writing instruction underneath, but the subject matter can be anything they’re into, horses, gaming, cars, history, science, whatever hooks them, instead of picture books. Daily practice, real progress tracking, no condescension, whatever your reader’s age or starting point.

Advocacy track

A clear path through school and post-school advocacy

Step by step guidance for requesting an evaluation, understanding your rights under IDEA, and tracking documents and deadlines, with a path that carries on into post-secondary accommodations and adult services once school ends, written in plain English instead of legal and bureaucratic language.

Built for your family if

  • Your reader is a tween, teen, or adult, anywhere from not yet reading to years behind grade level
  • They have dyslexia, or you suspect it, sometimes alongside autism, ADHD, or ODD
  • Public school hasn’t worked, private school hasn’t worked, and you’ve landed on homeschooling or another path
  • You’re navigating school inclusion, or supporting a young adult after graduation, and feeling unsupported
  • You’ve tried at least one reading app built for a much younger kid and it didn’t fit
  • You want them to feel capable while they’re learning, not babied, at any age
